Left Overs
A few things that came back home with us from Brazil: The NEED for an espresso machine, and fresh juice in the morning. "Suco de melencia" is one of my favorites. Has been since I first encountered it in Mexico while studying abroad as a 20 something. In Mexico its "jugo de sandia". Its funny what words you learn to say first in a foreign language!
Its also funny/strange that I never tried to make this favorite at home before! And whats even more strange is that we don't have watermelon juice here! Its a pretty color and tastes like summer. My rendition?: some watermelon, a little ice & water, lime juice, and maybe a little sugar in the blender . . . DONE!

Beach Bags & Breakfast
Baby Bear's Travels . . . Part Three:
An escape the the beach in the middle of a trip is like a double vacation. Fresh fruit for breakfast next to ocean waves is like dessert without dinner. And baby bear got to try the sweetest mango and the juiciest papaya ever! His first foods . . . and in Brazil no less. What a lucky bear.

Baby Bear's Travels . . . Part Two
Baby Bear got his first set of wings on his way to Brazil & it turns out I didn't need the chocolate and ear plugs for our in flight neighbors after all. I have a very chill little boy . . . which makes my job a million times easier but also reminds me of how fortunate I am. Trips to Brazil? not out of the question. Even the fact that Brazil is a question at all means I happen to be pretty lucky and very thankful. Bear's got a stamp in his freshly minted passport and I have some pretty special memories (& pictures) of his first trip abroad.

Stereos & Stoops
New neighborhood and new sun. Loving the new vibes of my little corner of Seattle. Left the known and ended up living in an unexplored part of my city, sometimes you don't have to go very far to feel like you can be whoever you wanna be cause theres nothing old and no one known holding you back. Did I mention that I love it when people bump their stereos even though they have perfect hearing and sit on their stoops even though they have yards? Yes, I am living exactly where I should be.
